She picked us up at the hotel in Sapa at 8:00. It was a very foggy morning and we had hardly any visibility.
We left and walked towards the valley floor over stony ground. It was a bit slippery. On the way over the land Thao explains us the procedure how land is bought and signed over. There doesn't seem to be a commercial register as we know it.
Arriving in the valley the fog has slowly dissipated and we continue passing a school. The children walk with us (small side note: they walk to school twice a day for 40 minutes).
Now Sapa shows us his most beautiful side: rice fields as far as the eye can see. The landscape is incredible. All this is accompanied by an incredible number of animals: geese, pigs, dogs, cats, roosters and big bulls. On the hike there is a very extensive meal with the best Spring Rolls in Vietnam. Please make sure to test them out! The hike will end in a local village.
This one day hike is perfect to escape the crowded tourist Sapa.
